We’re pleased to announce we’ve updated the Better Government Association’s Illinois Public Salaries Database. This powerful tool lets you review, explore and compare compensation for public employees working in 1,767 governmental units throughout Illinois. You can easily visualize how much public employees are earning and how much governments and departments are spending. The database now includes updated salary information available for nearly 511,800 state, municipal, school and many other employees. This year, we are also breaking out employees’ overtime and other extra income, so you can see how much governments are paying out above budgeted base pay. And we’ve made some improvements that make the database easier to navigate. If you want to do your own analysis, the full data set can be downloaded as well. Each year we spend weeks requesting, compiling and checking this data. We do this because the BGA believes detailing how tax dollars are spent serves the public interest.
